I love this quote from Bill Gates.
“Your Most UNHAPPY Customers are Your Greatest Source of Learning”.
Aren’t you exhausted from the calls from your clients saying, “There’s nothing there! It looked good when I left your office!”
I am not a gambling woman, but I will gamble on the fact that you are moving too fast! Slowing down has been an ongoing challenge for so many practitioners.
Aren’t you tired of doing the same procedure on that same face, at No Charge?
I can tell you I really dislike having to do a procedure, at No Charge! So, I choose to work slowly and methodically, DELIBERATELY, even rhythmically, staying closely connected to the machine, my hand, AND THAT NEEDLE, because I know they hold all the power in doing it right or not.
I find it so sad when I hear from a frustrated student, several months after they have graduated, they are still not able to achieve a good eyeliner. In the interim, they have purchased other needles, and even other pigments and sometimes even new machines looking for that MAGIC BULLET and are still suffering disappointing results. Of course, their clients are just as frustrated and unhappy after sitting through 3-4 attempts! There is no Magic Bullet! The magic is right there in your hand and simply moving it at the right speed and depth.
All you have to do is SLOW DOWN and find, as Tina Davies says, THE SWEET SPOT!
Forty-five-degree angle, always pointing away from the inner and outer canthus, and rhythmic movements, have always been successful for me. It’s as though I hear a metronome in my head, keeping me in even movements, of tiny circles, 3 forward, 2 back, 3 forward, 2 back, and this rhythm, providing I maintain my depth, deposits a tremendous amount of color. I do not lift my needle off the skin until I run out of color and have to dip.
Ten-minute eyeliner, 20-minute brows, 8-minute lips are all nonsense if you are an artist. Buying into this will hold you back from learning correctly and building your own confidence.
I have dedicated my entire career in PMU, with tremendous passion, to teaching and helping you become highly successful with the least amount of stress in doing so. My passion has always been to raise the bar, so we ALL do beautiful work and love performing permanent makeup. Believe me, I feel as bad as you do when you struggle with a procedure. Your success is my success and Beau’s success. So, please don’t hesitate to come in to watch a procedure. Sometimes, that’s all it takes.
If you have been away from the profession for some time, schedule a day or two of hands-on procedures, rather than go out and keep purchasing that elusive solution.
We are here, we care, and remember, WE DO NOT GO AWAY!!!
